Commune des Hauts-de-France located in the department of the Somme, Fort-Mahon-Plage is also a seaside resort on the shores of the Channel Sea. It takes place at the limit of the bay of Authie, about thirty kilometers from Abbeville and about 45 kilometers from Boulogne-sur-Mer.
According to historians, the city, which never harbored a port, was named after the French conquest of Minorca in 1756. Fort Mahon was the highest military fort in Europe, Commune of the Somme would have taken its name in homage to the accomplished acts of arms. Recent, the commune of Fort-Mahon-Plage would date from the eighteenth century. However, it was necessary to wait until the middle of the 20th century to see it develop in seaside resort and tourist. Its beaches of fine sand, which change the Normandy pebble beaches located nearby, have made its fame in the rest of the country.

To discover the coastline of Fort-Mahon-Plage, you can take the trail of the Royon, a marked hiking trail of four kilometers that stretches from the seaside resort to Quend-Plage. Perfect for exploring local fauna and flora, Authie Bay is not far away, with its marked trails of discovery.
Situated on the beach, the nautical center of Fort-Mahon-Plage offers several sports activities such as paddle, kitesurfing, sailing, sand yachting, canoeing or the lanyard. An 18 hole golf course, ranked among the most beautiful in France, is also offered to amateurs.
Accessible during ceremonies or during guided tours, the tree of Jericho is a willow-shaped cut consisting of eight trunks following destruction by the Germans during the Second World War. In front, a statue was dedicated to the action of the Resistance and the victims of the Nazi occupation, as well as to the memory of the events that took place in the city at that time.
Near a blockhouse, the monument of the cadets of Free France was erected in homage to five inhabitants of the commune who engaged in the Resistance during the Second World War and who joined England in canoes in 1941.
