Florac, from the Latin "Flor Acquae" (Fleur des Eaux) is a small town of about 2000 inhabitants in winter and three times this summer.

It is located at the confluence of four rivers: the source of Fishing (Occitan Pescio "pool"), a magnificent resurgence of the Causse Mejean populated large trout Tarnon, Mimente and Tarn.

That is why Florac says "crossroads of stone and water."

Things to see and do

You can see the trout but not fish. Ducks either do not fish themselves: they move and it is difficult to predict where they will be during your visit!

Must navigate the maze of alleys and archways many old neighborhoods.

A marked and commented path will tour the main attractions of the city.

The Castle is the center of the Cévennes National Park and part is the Park Museum.

Visits, leisure and activities nearby

Przewalski horses are prehistoric horses that have never been domesticated. Morphologically, they differ from domestic horses. They come from Mongolia and are acclimated to the Causse above Florac where they live and breed in the wild. When the herd gets too large, the surplus is returned in original Mongolian steppes.
