"Flassan in the heart of Provence, at the foot of Mont Ventoux, the authentic charm and a certain art of living!"

The town is located 45 minutes from Avignon and its famous festival, 15 minutes from Carpentras, the capital of the Comtat.

Located on the southern slope, 435 meters, the village seems nestled at the foot of the mountain. Thus protected from the mistral, it enjoys a privileged climate where we appreciate the sun but also the cool evenings.

The ocher facades of houses, warm colors, fountains and wash houses and picturesque streets around the church, one of the few Romanesque monuments of Vaison attract throughout the year painters and photographers. It is the same with walkers and hikers because Flassan is the point of departure or arrival of many trails and GR which allow to discover the landscapes and scents of Provence always, the sheep, coal and bories past. For its amazing richness in terms of fauna and flora, part of the Mont Ventoux has also been classified as a "Biosphere Reserve" by UNESCO.

As for the followers of the "little queen", the roads of their campaigns offer huge opportunities to conduct, perhaps, on the slopes of the Giant? Then they know that Eric Caritoux, the local champion, can usefully advise them, for he himself climbed repeatedly. Vast forest, woods, vineyards and fruit trees indicating that the village has retained its agricultural vocation. Visitors can taste, the seasons, local produce, grapes, cherries, truffles, olive oil and AOC or honey, fruit in syrup, jams and tapenade prepared on site.

Sports breaks? gourmet holiday? The calm and nature? With a particular environment, the proximity of the mountains, the colors of the South in a green, Flassan has strengths that begs to be shared.

Things to see and do

The church: It dates from the twelfth century. Mentioned in some papal bulls since 1107. Dedicated to Our Lady, Mary, is one of the few Romanesque monuments of the Comtat. Enlarged in the seventeenth century, she then suffered the revolutionary period; beautifully restored in the 1970s.

The Chapel of St. John of the Desert: A nearly 10 km from the village, in the mountains and at over 1000 m altitude. It is a former priory of the twelfth century. Built on a small mound in a vast clearing, surrounded by towering pine trees, the chapel appears in a majestic setting. Regularly maintained by the villagers, St John is celebrated every year, on June 24

Castle Vaubonne: bourgeois property that stands away from the village to the south. farm buildings and remains of the "masters" flanked by two square towers. Early seventeenth. A large park extended by an oak forest has earned this fine building to be called "castle".

The fountain in the Town Hall Square: It was built in 1860, with its covered wash and occupies the center of the square. The lack of water has always been the bane of people, we did extensive research, dug many wells, it was also much disputed, before creating this fountain.

The valley of Canaud: Trail of almost 10 km, which takes time by the canyon-like, starts above the village and goes to the north is plotting the natural boundary of the town of Flassan. Ancient path along which there are coal (which was manufactured charcoal) of sheep (jas), and by which we can reach St. John's Chapel.
