In 1367, we find the trace of a "Villa de Faschin" at a place called Les Prés-Saint-Marc. The ruins of a chapel, sarcophagi and a sacred fountain were discovered there. The traces of a Roman road remain very visible there.
Despite everything, the history of the commune remains very obscure and mysterious; it was not until July 1870 that an imperial decree erected Fâchin as a commune, with then 984 ha!
The town is made up of a town which has no central square, and eight hamlets. It is surrounded by wooded mountains, the Bois de Rétige, the forests of La Chaux, Chambeaux and Chalançon. The forest of Gravelle and the Roche de Suize offer beautiful panoramas to the walker.
Local life is based on livestock farming and forestry work.
