Commune du Mélantois, Faches-Thumesnil takes place south-east of the Lille agglomeration, in the department of Nord. Situated in the heart of Flanders, the town of Hauts-de-France is also on the edge of Templemars, Wattignies, Lesquin and Vendeville.
Village at the beginning of the XIIth century, Faches-Thumesnil then consists of Faches and the hamlet of Thumesnil more than a kilometer away. It was not until the nineteenth century and the arrival of the railroad that the commune took its present name and merged definitively. Long known for its biscuit factory, transferred from Lille in the early 1910s, it is today appreciated for its historical heritage, as well as for its proximity to all the most beautiful tourist sites of the Lille region.
