The town of Entrepierres is located in the department of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, in the region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. Its name refers to its mountainous geography, at the edge of the Durance, between Gap and Digne-les-Bains and close to Sisteron. Large municipality by its size (nearly 48 km²), result of the merger of three communes, it is small by its population (about 400 inhabitants) very dispersed. Its inhabitants are called Interpetratists.
The town has 2,339 hectares of woods and forests, almost half of its area.
