Doulaincourt-Saucourt

Tourism, holidays & weekends guide in the Haute-Marne

Located in Haute-Marne, in the Grand Est region, the municipality of Doulaincourt-Saucourt was born in 1972 from the merger of Doulaincourt and Saucourt-sur-Rognon. New commune, the village takes place in the lower valley of Rognon, twenty kilometers from Joinville, and thirty kilometers from Chaumont.

Known for its preserved natural heritage, the village of Doulaincourt-Saucourt has developed since the Gallo-Roman era, as evidenced by the archaeological remains found on site. Property of the lordship of Val-du-Rognon in the Carolingian period, it passes into the hands of the Abbey of Clairvaux from the thirteenth century. Mostly destroyed in the late fifteenth century during the wars between Louis XI and Charles the Bold, the small town reborn from the ashes in the nineteenth century through industry.

From its rich past, Doulaincourt-Saucourt has retained an interesting architectural and historical heritage.
