Town in Loire-Atlantique in Pays de la Loire, Donges takes place about fifty kilometers from the tourist town of Nantes, on the north bank of the Loire estuary. It is located ten kilometers from Saint-Nazaire, near the Brière Regional Natural Park, near the towns of Crosac, Paimboeuf and Saint-Viaud.
Inhabited since Neolithic times, the territory of Donges develops later over the centuries, especially in the eleventh century with the construction of the first tower behind the creation of the town. The draining of the marshes in the eighteenth century and the arrival of industrialization in the nineteenth end to the reputation of the city from the west. In the twentieth century, a refinery is also open and continues to operate today, making the economic prosperity of Donges.
