Located at the confluence of the Loire and the Besbre, the Abbey of Sept-Fons takes place in the municipality of Dompierre-sur-Besbre in Allier. Founded in the first half of the twelfth century, it experienced a Trappist Cistercian monastic life almost without interruption since its inception, today with the presence of nearly seventy brothers.
Open for pensions and other tourist stays, the Abbey of Sept-Fons is also known for its commercial activity with the production of its beer since the late nineteenth century and other food products such as jams and food supplements based wheat. Religious services are still delivered to the site.
