Town of nearly 10 000 inhabitants of Seine-et-Marne, in the Ile-de-France, Dammartin-en-Goële sits on the edge of the Oise department, seventy kilometers from Melun. It is also located near Claye Souilly, Moussy-le-Vieux and Nantouillet.
Occupied since the Gallo-Roman territory Dammartin-en-Goële was in the early eleventh century an important place in the country. Almost completely destroyed in the first half of the thirteenth century, the town managed to rise from the ashes over the centuries, becoming particularly property of Anne de Montmorency in the middle of the sixteenth.
