Cruet

A former 13th century fortified castle, now modernized, the Verdun-Dessus castle was originally the property of the Verdon family. L-shaped, it reveals a round recessed tower topped with a pepper pot, as well as two-story high dwellings covered in slate. Inside, one of the rooms on the first floor has preserved a frieze painted with grisaille scrolls from the 17th century.

Don't miss out on admiring the exterior of the Château de la Rive. This old fortified house from the 13th century, remodeled at the beginning of the 20th century, now houses a seminar and reception center. Not far from there, the Tour du Chauffard is one of the last vestiges of an old fortified house from the 14th century.

Throughout your wanderings, you will also discover the Chanay fortified house, an old 14th century fortified house, or the house of the bishops of Grenoble, a 14th century house now serving as a barn and having preserved a beveled window. The Saint-Laurent church, a very beautiful neo-Romanesque building from the 19th century, with a neo-Gothic interior, is also worth a stop.

The oldest metal railway bridge in the world, the Pont des Anglais still crosses Isère today. Built by Newman, an Englishman, it is 236 m long and was commissioned in 1856.

A local producers' market is offered every first Thursday of the month.

The town hosts certain concerts of the Sons du Lac festival in July.

In December, it's time for the Christmas carousel, a little gourmet celebration with many surprises for young and old.
