Crissay-sur-Manse is a town of Indre-et-Loire in the heart of the Touraine region in Central Loire Valley.

Things to see and do

Mecca of the Hundred Years War, Crissay-sur-Manse is today a peaceful village with a unique architectural heritage, ranked among the most beautiful villages in France.

Walking through the village, you can discover remarkable home the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries attesting to the past greatness of the village.

Among the most beautiful houses in the village include the "House of Justice", the "house Gaby," the "timbered house", the "house of the great Carroi", the "house of the Postern" or "Hostel of the English."

The church, built by Jacques 1st of Crissé in 1527 and restored in 1867, is listed as historical monuments since 1926. The sacristy is home to enfeu Catherine du Bellay, wife of Jacques Turpin, Lord of Crissay.

The castle, partly destroyed during the Hundred Years War and rebuilt in the late fifteenth century on the foundations of an ancient fortress can be visited throughout the year upon request.

Outside the village, other architectural sights are worth a visit, like the fountain of the Huguenots, the washing of the village, the wash of Gruteau or the Grand Moulin.

Marked hiking trails allow visitors to discover the village of Crissay-sur-Manse and the surrounding countryside in the heart of the Manse Valley.

The town also has a farm where they make cheese from goat's milk, including the famous Sainte Maure. The farm also offers other crafts to be discovered as natural goat milk soaps or rillettes and pâté goat.

One can also taste other local delicacies such as honey Crissay and other handicrafts made in a workshop in the village, such as gingerbread, marmalade...

Visit the cellar of the town, located in one of the most beautiful houses of the village dating from the late fifteenth century. You can taste the AOC wines of Chinon and producer of wines and its famous Chardonnay.

Events and festivities

Crissay-sur-Manse comes alive throughout the year at events bringing together locals and visitors.

In February, there is the carnival Crissay-sur-Manse.

Every year in April, the town organizes hiking Pusher Cailloux.

In May, the fair junk is a colorful and festive event that will delight young and old.

In June, there is the Picnic of the Bonne Entente "Crissay-Avon" and the Meals on St. John.

Find street art in July when graffiti event at the castle.

Each year, the town offers a meal on the occasion of the national holiday of July 14.

In late July, there is the theater of the Ante and August theater Manse.

At the commemoration of 11 November 1918, the town pays tribute to former during a meal with the old animation.
