Benedictine abbey of the congregation of Solesmes, the Notre-Dame de Randol abbey takes place on the commune of Cournols, in the department of Puy-de-Dôme. Recent, the building was founded in the early 1970s by monks from the Abbey of Notre-Dame de Fontgombault. Established as an abbey in 1981, it now has about forty monks.
The building is the work of architects Paul-Jean Monnoyeur and Louis Piessat, all in a very contemporary style. Placed under the protection of Our Lady of the Visitation, the Notre-Dame de Randol abbey is composed of two cloisters, one reserved for the monks and the other for the hotel. In this part, the monks welcome young people, students and adult men for religious retreats or studies. Common to both spaces, the church hosts eight offices a day.
The monks of Randol abbey depend on the village of the same name today being restored. The site, classified as an historic monument, houses houses lent throughout the year to families in spiritual retreat.
The abbey is also famous for its Gregorian chants, the monks having already recorded several albums.
