Cottenchy

Tourism, holidays & weekends guide in the Somme

The mill of the castle, in working in the green edge of Noye is one of the topics of regional artists. The church of St. Marcel of the 15th century was a place of pilgrimage to St. Druon that was invoked for the gravel and diseases of the intestines. His statue still wears a necklace of calculations offered ex-votos. Also found in the chancel slab in memory of Louis Cardon Cottenchy carpenter who created the first wooden spire of the cathedral of Amiens. Cottenchy is also the site of the legend of St. Ulphe. The croaking of frogs from ponds that have prevented the hermit to wake up earlier to go to Mass, she punishes them by imposing "perpetual silence." That is probably why, since this picturesque area is deemed so calm and relaxing.
