Congrier is a village located at the crossroads of 4 departments: Mayenne, Maine-et-Loire, Loire-Atlantique and Ille-et-Vilaine.
In the 19th century, the exploitation of slate was the main activity in the area (2 wells). The slates from the La Gauterie site were renowned for being of excellent quality. They were shipped throughout France, England and Germany.
Currently, it is the Dirickx industry, an international specialist in site perimeter protection (fences, gates, access control and security for over 100 years), which represents an important activity in the municipality.
