The Castle of Confolens is a monument in the municipality of Confolens (Charente, New-Aquitaine). It is an attraction for holidaymakers staying in the region.
A former 11th century fortified castle, the castle of Confolens, in Charente, is known to be the birthplace of Saint Gauthier. Partly in ruins today, it still unveils pink granite ramparts pierced with a pointed arch door. The keep, from the 12th century, still present, is joined by a curtain wall.
