The Putois racecourse is located at Compiègne, in the Oise.
Located to the east of the town, in the immediate vicinity of the castle and its park, the site has hosted horse races since 1875 on land that has been cleared for this purpose by enthusiasts.
In 1891, a race company was created, the tracks having been designed by Richard Carter, from a family of British trainers who officiated at Chantilly and at Compiègne.
With the appearance of special trains linking Paris to Compiègne, used by punters from Paris, the Putois racecourse acquired a certain reputation from the start of the 20th century. The infrastructure was finally equipped with stands in the Anglo-Norman style in 1932.
The entire site benefited from a major modernization in the 2000s (development of offices, renovation of the stands, enlargement of the courtyard which has enough boxes to accommodate 130 horses).
A restaurant with a view of the track and a giant screen for spectators and bettors are also available.
On the Putois racecourse (with a 2,200 meter grass track with a rope on the left) some 30 meetings are now scheduled each year from March to November, including trotting, flat or obstacles.
The majority of these meetings give rise to national PMU bets.
Entrance fee on race days: 3 and 5 euros. Information on +33 3 44 20 24 43.
