Colombiers The town is located in the department of Cher (18) and the region Center-Val de Loire. It is part of the Community of Communes Heart France.
There are three hypotheses on the origins of the name of this town so pretty. The first of these assumptions is that we would have given this name from that of St Columban. But this theory fails because since its construction, the church (XIII century) is dedicated to St. Martin.
Another origin have been possible due to the presence of the aqueduct. In fact it is composed of column if one refers to the Latin name Colonnus, it could have been the origin of the name of the village. But this hypothesis is rejected for another Latin name "Colombaris" which means dovecote, or "Colombarius", who is responsible for the breeding of birds. This theory is one that we will remember because it explains the presence of the "s" at the end of Colombiers. In 1217, found in the archives of Charenton and Noirlac name Colombarium and can confirm the fact that the village name comes from the activity of the Lords who raised birds.
