Cierp-Gaud

Originally dedicated to Saint Catherine, the Church of Notre-Dame de Cierp underwent a major expansion in the 19th century, revealing to its visitors several elements classified or registered as Historical Monuments, such as a 16th century Pietà, a wooden tabernacle gilded 17th century or a statuette of Saint John the Baptist in 17th century gilded wood. The chapels of the Virgin Mary and of Saint Catherine are very beautiful with in particular a vault painted in gold with a vegetal decoration.

While strolling in the town, do not fail to admire the 16th century castle with its 19th century turrets which today houses the town hall, or the old washhouses, fountains and the Saracen cave.

After a tour of the Notre-Dame de Gaud church, head to the beautiful sanctuary of Notre-Dame de Souesté, rebuilt in the middle of the 19th century and restored in the 20th century. In particular, it unveils two statues of the Virgin and Child listed as Historical Monuments.

Several marked hiking trails allow you to discover the surrounding landscapes or to learn about mountain biking and climbing.

The weekly market is held every Tuesday morning.

In mid-July, it's time for the national holiday with its fireworks, its popular ball and its pétanque competition.
