Things to see and do

Chaumont-sur-Loire Castle is the most popular tourist site of Chaumont-sur-Loire. Classified as an historical monument and today property of the State, it was built in the course of the 15th century on the remains of a fortress of the tenth century, burned by the troops of Louis XI to punish the revolt of Peter Amboise. Restored at the end of the 19th century, it is decorated with English gardens and luxurious stables. Fourth Loire castle the busiest of the department, it is today associated with the garden festival of Chaumont-sur-Loire, unveiling including a plant wall, an experimental garden, a greenhouse or a pretty farm.

Trails have been developed on the banks of the Loire, including Piste Loire to practice cycling. It is also possible to travel the river in traditional boats.

Site protected by the Conservatory of Natural Heritage of the Center Region, the island of Folie allows a very pleasant walk on a path along the Loire in the heart of a charming alluvial forest.

Do not miss to go to the Chassepaille wood for a sunny afternoon with family or two.
