Historic and religious place of the region, the small town of Chaumont-Porcien is located north of the valley of the Aisne, between Thiérache in the northwest and Rethélois in the southeast. His name of "bald mountain" comes perhaps from the fact that this hill was bald! Saint Berthauld, a Scottish hermit, son of King Theold, came to stay on the hill. Construction of a castle, but also an abbey in his honor, all destroyed now. There is a chapel dedicated to the saint.
