Chanteloup-les-Vignes is a common Yvelines region Île-de-France, 25 km northwest of Paris.
Its territory of 3.3 square kilometers is located in the heart of a loop of the Seine, on the right bank, and it is divided into four distinct parts.
From north to south, the town includes first part of the forest Hautil, then a suburban area and the historic market town, the neighborhood of Noe created in the 1970s and finally the plain of Chanteloup (zone business and agricultural land).
Single hamlet until the Revolution, Chanteloup-les-Vignes officially became a town in 1789 and remains its agricultural activity until after the Second War. Some careers are also exploited.
The rise of the automobile industry on the nearby town of Poissy results in the creation of the district of Noah (thousands of units) but it is hardly finished that the economic crisis hit this economic sector. An urban renewal project was initiated in 2004 to restore the area, where the famous film "La Haine" was shot, a better living.
With now some 10 500 inhabitants against a thousand in 1946 Chanteloup-les-Vignes has a leisure offer that deserves attention.
In terms of heritage, the Saint-Roch church is the jewel of the city, to see in the center of the historic town. It was built from the early sixteenth century and has a bell tower (rebuilt in the nineteenth and twentieth) whose portal arch is decorated with arches and rests on Corinthian columns. The north and south facades are lined with broken arch windows and buttresses. During the 1999 storm, the bell tower fell on the nave and important works were initiated. Inside, the church has beautiful stained glass windows in the choir, dated XVI, whose medallions depicting scenes from the Old Testament and episodes of Saint Roch life. The altarpiece is also worth mentioning.
Culturally, housed in a former saddlery (tack room dedicated to teams of horses) that symbolizes the rural past of the resort, the municipal library offers regular readings of stories and other activities on the theme of books. Information +33 1 39 74 29 74.

There remains to enjoy the green areas of the city. This is the case of Jean Champeau park in the center of the city, but especially in the north of the territory, that is to say forest Hautil which is crossed by numerous hiking trails.
Note that a form of geological plate marks the beginning of this wooded area. From this natural terrace, a panoramic view allows you to admire the forest of Saint-Germain-en-Laye, but also in the distance from the capital monuments (Eiffel Tower, Montparnasse Tower...).
