Achard The lake is located on the heights of the ski resort of Chamrousse, in Isère, 30 km southeast of Grenoble.
Of glacial origin, located to 1917 meters, covers an area of about one hectare and a maximum depth of 2 meters.
Fed by precipitation, it is frozen and covered with snow in winter.
The Achard lake gives rise to a stream, Arselle.
Occupying the bottom of a basin, it is lined with wet meadows, bogs and some conifers. The entire site is classified Natura 2000 and protected for its fragile ecosystem. It is therefore advisable to stay on the trails and of course, camping, fishing and swimming are prohibited.
The lake can however be the goal of a pleasant family hike from Chamrousse without particular difficulty.
