Small town of Puy-de-Dôme, in region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Champeix takes place about thirty kilometers from Clermont-Ferrand, on the banks of the Couze Chambon. It is located not far from Chadeleuf, Pardines and Clémensat.

Labeled Small town character, the common Champeix known for years for its numerous landscaped gardens and terraces cultivated that earned him the nickname City of Gardens. Second residence dolphins Auvergne in the twelfth century, the town develops slowly over the centuries, gradually taking the face full of charm that it is today.

Very touristy, Champeix boasts an architectural and historical heritage of great interest and offers a variety of cultural and sports activities and events accessible to all.

Things to see and do

Listed historical monument, the Holy Cross Church dates from the twelfth century. Romanesque style, it has undergone profound changes between the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, and this still the baptismal font of the sixteenth century classified as object. Nearby, you can also discover the Saint-Jean. This former chapel of the twelfth century listed historical monument, including its murals of thirteenth and eighteenth centuries. The chapel of Anciat, the twelfth century, also deserves a stop.

Destroyed in the first half of the seventeenth century on the orders of Richelieu, the castle served as the twelfth century Marchidial of second home to dolphins Auvergne. Listed historic monument, it has been largely restored by a volunteer association. proudly located on a rocky spur, it has taken a great tourist interest due to its very popular gardens.

Strolling in the heart of the town, you can admire the many gardens and cultivated terraces, before admiring the summer exhibitions in the former rectory. The traditional architecture of the buildings associated with the original green spaces and worked that line the streets offering a special charm to the southern city of France! The medieval districts including incentive to linger.

Events and festivities

The weekly market is held every Friday morning. Summery night markets are offered on Wednesdays from 19h to 23h in summer.

A festival of short film is proposed in March.

For Easter, in April, the town hosts an egg hunt.

Every first weekend in May, the city resumed Gardens City name with many events around green spaces.

In May, let's try the local cycling race.

In mid-June, the festival Pied the bracket offers several concerts.

A fireworks display takes place in mid-July to celebrate National Day.

In summer the small lounge literary curiosities is the opportunity to learn the art of writing.

In early August, to party the arts in the street and entertainment.
