Located between Saint-Tropez and Le Lavandou, Cavalaire-sur-Mer is a charming seaside resort on the Mediterranean coast. This common Var, surrounded by the Cape Lardier and Cap Cavalaire, is built on an ancient Greek colony, and is renowned for its long sandy beach and its various coves. The city has also experienced its heyday during the Allied landing in Provence, in 1944, because it was the scene of major US military operations.
Today mainly on tourism, the city has a nautical resort labeled with many activities for all ages. It also benefits from attracting tourist towns like nearby Ramatuelle.
Cavalaire-sur-Mer gastronomy and the region also attracted passing tourists, including wines from the Var vineyards, honey, tapenade, or the famous tarte tropézienne coming from the next town over.

On the port, you can admire the famous Pointus du port. Still in operation, these typical Provençal fishing boats recall the town's traditions. Not to be missed in particular, the Tramontane, which was bought by the municipality of Cavalaire-sur-Mer.
Property of the Conservatoire du Littoral, Maison Foncin, former property of the famous French historian and geographer, Pierre Foncin, seduces with its Mediterranean garden. Located to the west of the city, this white bastide which overlooks the sea can be visited by reservation, once a week. The Maison de la Nature, which will open its doors in 2024, will host temporary exhibitions, as well as actions aimed at raising awareness of the protection of the marine ecosystem.
Diving enthusiasts also appreciate the important underwater heritage of Cavalaire-sur-Mer. In particular, we can observe a dozen wrecks washed up in the bay.
The SIVOM marine observatory of the Maures coastline is located at Cavalaire-sur-Mer, allowing you to learn a little more about the management and observation of marine environments and their coastline.
Many seaside villas built by the famous architect Jean-Marie Nielly can be seen during a stroll through the streets of the city.
The certified nautical station allows the practice of numerous activities such as diving, jet skiing, sailing, or even maritime excursions around the city.
Keen to attract tourists and culture lovers, the town of Cavalaire-sur-Mer regularly organizes exhibitions and other festive events.
From June to September, a book market takes place on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 5 p.m. to midnight along the quai des bouquinistes. This book quay is an opportunity to find rare editions and other second-hand paperbacks.
In September, time for the aperitif concert and its festive and warm entertainment. On this occasion, groups from the region perform while the delighted spectators enjoy a friendly aperitif.
Jazz lovers meet every year in September at Cavalaire-sur-Mer, for the famous Caval'Air Jazz Festival. For five days, the best artists perform in the city's performance halls, as well as in the streets.
From May to September, in different parts of the city, it is possible to enjoy a craft market with artists from all over the region. In September and October, an arts fair allows you to see beautiful sculptures and other paintings.
Sport is not left out with the Cavalaire Motors Festival, the Urban! Trial Show or the Duo Trail, in October. The Passion Méditerranée festival also takes place at Cavalaire-sur-Mer at the end of September.
The Salon des Arts, flea markets, or even the Christmas Run, a disguised race, complete the city's cultural offerings.
