The country house of Castelfranc was founded in the late thirteenth century by the Bishop of Cahors. The regular plan, typical of a voluntary planning and place name are the two main benchmarks to classify Castelfranc among the houses. However, the site predates the Roman conquest, the prehistoric and Gallo-Roman suggesting that Castelfranc was already an important and strategic place.
