Municipal museum of Carpentras labeled Museum of France, the Sobirats museum presented collections of Provençal and Comtadine decorative arts from the 18th and 19th centuries. It takes place in an 18th century private mansion which has retained its original interior layout.
Named in homage to Count Victor de Sobirats, who made an important bequest of furniture, books and other paintings, the Sobirats museum notably houses Aubusson tapestries, Moustiers earthenware and paintings by Joseph Vernet.
The site is currently closed pending the transfer of works from the Inguimbertine Library.
