- Municipality of the Pyrenees located in the Ariège Pyrenees Natural Park in the Vicdessos Valley, resulting from the meeting in 1952 of the two villages:
- Junac (Ugenac), a village whose creation probably dates back to around the year 1000 with a church named Saint-Julien and remains of the old castle that are still visible.
- Capoulet (Capolegio), surname possibly related to the passage of the legions of Caesar during the Gallic Wars. A church was built in 1850, dedicated to Saint-Pantaléon, which owes its name to the passage of Charlemagne in the valley.
- The inhabitants are the Canacéens whose human presence has been established since the Magdalenian period.
- The development of the iron industry corresponds to that of the village.
