Buire-au-Bois is a small rural town of nearly 240 inhabitants located between the valleys of the Canche and the Authie in the canton of Auxi-le-Château. It has 2 hiking trails labeled by the Federation and a heritage trail.
Several wells are visible in the town, as well as a 17th century manor house and an 18th century folly also visible in the hamlet of Bachimont.
The remains of a V1 base are also present on Bachimont.
Buire-au-Bois had its heyday for about ten years with the discovery and exploitation of high quality phosphates at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century. Vestiges of this exploitation are still visible in the pastures of the village and middle-class houses testify to the enrichment of certain fellow citizens at that time.
Without forgetting the centerpiece of the heritage of Buire-au-Bois, its church built in 1752. Renovated between 2017 and 2021, it is open every weekend from May to October and is part of the Open Churches network.
