Brûlon, by its heights (rises to more than 100 m above sea level), has always been a sought after site since ancient times.
Brûlon is the cradle of modern communication. Indeed, in 1763, Claude Chappe, the inventor of the aerial telegraph was born in the commune. On March 2, 1791, with the help of his brothers, he carried out the first transmission tests between Brûlon and Parcé-sur-Sarthe. After this first success, more than 5000 km of telegraph lines will be installed on the French territory in the 19th century.
