Charming little village of Haute-Marne, in the Grand Est region, Bologne takes place about ten kilometers from Chaumont, in a wide bend of the Marne. It is located near the canal between Champagne and Burgundy, not far from Viéville, Briaucourt and Oudincourt.
Vicus des Langons in Gallo-Roman times, the town of Bologne then had a strategic position on the Marne, at the crossroads of an old Roman road leading from Montsaon to Soulosse. A Merovingian Mecca in the Middle Ages, the village subsequently developed over the centuries, notably annexing in 1973 the neighboring towns of Marault and Roôcourt-la-Côte.
Today, Bologne enjoys significant economic development thanks to the presence of its forges, but also an interesting architectural heritage which bears witness to its rich past.
