Small village that sits proudly in the hollow of a rift between forests and Ivry Roseux - situation to which it owes its name Bois-le-Roi originally Boscus Regis became Regis Boscum in 1163, was an area before the Norman Conquest, part personal property of the king of France, at his disposal, unlike the property of the Crown. This town is historically rooted in very ancient times since it appeared as riding in the 9th century, when it took the form of an association based on the oath.
It is located 139 meters above sea level, covers 542 hectares including 169 forest and occupies an intermediate position between the plateau of Saint-André and the valley of the Eure. Originally exist many ponds and wells that allowed the village to grow and to organize daily life. In particular, worked there many home "Peigneux" or "peigniers." The water, however, put real problems that were not resolved to the years 1955 to 1956.
Its church, dedicated to Saint John the Baptist under the patronage immemorial Marmoutiers Abbey founded by the illustrious Saint Martin of Tours, has a remarkable punch molded frame that supports the arch. Closer to home, the house "The Linchine", near the intersection of Street Road and Fondgueux the Red Mare is a particular construction. It was built in 1963 Bois-le-Roi on plans by the architect Claude Parent for Ms. Bordeaux Pecq artist who set up his workshop. Its roof, all curves and inclines is inspired by the movement of waves. Recognized as a work of leading contemporary architecture, it is for this reason, National Heritage Site of France since 2010.
