Bois-Guillaume is a commune of Seine-Maritime in Normandy. Located in the heights of Rouen, it is near the green forest, near the town of Houppeville.
According to legend, the Norman city would hold its name of a house of pleasure installed at this place in the middle of the XIth century by Arlette de Falaise, mother of William the Conqueror. The latter would have greatly appreciated the hunting forests to which he gave his name.
Ancient Gallic village, Bois-Guillaume knew a certain fame in the Middle Ages, especially at the time of the Crusades. Since the nineteenth century, the Norman commune benefits from the economic expansion of Rouen, gradually urbanizing.
Today, the municipality is mainly known for its natural heritage, as well as for its perfect geographical location to appreciate the Norman region.
