Bois-d'Amont is a commune in the Haut Jura located along the Swiss border, between Lake of the Rousses in France and Lake Joux in Switzerland, with a remarkable view of Mont Blanc. It is also 50 km from the city of Geneva in Switzerland.
Dominated by the massive Noirmont the one hand, forest Risoux another, and crossed by the river Orbe, Bois-d'Amont the town is a mecca of tourism.
Bois-d'Amont is also part of the four villages, with the municipalities of Les Rousses, Lamoura and Prémanon, which are the resort of Les Rousses, the first French station labeled Green Snowflake.
In winter and summer, many outdoor activities will delight lovers of nature in the resort of Les Rousses, between water sports, skiing, fishing or hiking.
The history of Bois-d'Amont is closely related to wood. The Museum of Boissellerie is the place to soak up the history and expertise of high-Jura, who were able to exploit the qualities of wood and develop processing techniques, including spruce, King tree Jura forests.
At Bois-d'Amont you can visit the Museum of Boissellerie, remarkable site installed along the Orb in a renovated mill, at 1050 meters altitude. Within the museum, high-Jura you will tell the story of local manufacturing: Clock box, cheese box, medicine box, skis, shingles... During a tour, traveling through time discovering the changing uses and technical craftsmen Bois-d'Amont. Different theme rooms are also available: the workshop of Boisseliers, the shingles, the mill and its hydraulic turbine or steam engine.
Bois-d'Amont is also a natural paradise for relaxation, discovery and sports activities.
The hiking trail La Roche du Creux, from Bois-d'Amont, offers an exceptional view on the Orb valley. The ideal tour for families to discover the village and its surroundings.
Three marked mountain bike trails are also available from Bois-d'Amont.
Snow fields freely available allow the practice of various activities in the heart of the resort of Les Rousses: walking tours or snowshoeing, skiing... "Frontier" is a 5 km circuit accessible from Bois-d'Amont.
The town also has sports area with free access, and a petanque field.

The Orb, which crosses Bois-d'Amont, also calls for the practice of trout fishing Orbe, with family or friends.
The town also has all the necessary amenities (bars, restaurants, bakery, supermarket, pharmacy...) for a pleasant stay in the heart of the Jura, between valleys and forests.
A producer of fruits and vegetables goes every Tuesday between 8:30 and Bois-d'Amont 17:30 and Sunday from 8.30am to 12am during the summer. Its products come from Drôme, Ardèche, Lot-et-Garonne, but also Italy and Spain. In winter, the producer ensures deliveries in the town on request.
A poultry producer also offers its products from the farm during the summer. It makes deliveries during the winter Bois-d'Amont every 7 weeks from the end of November and for the year-end holidays.
