Located in the Greater East region, the commune of Blotzheim takes place in the department of Haut-Rhin. It is located on the border of Switzerland, with the city of Basel, at the foot of the upper terrace of the Rhine.
The town is mentioned as early as the eighth century, under the name of Flobotesheim. Former property of the abbey of Murbach, it takes its name and its current form in the current of the fifteenth century. Formerly an agricultural village turned mainly towards viticulture, Blotzheim has experienced numerous massacres, notably during the peasant revolt and the Thirty Years War.
Today, Blotzheim is especially famous for its tourist activity, as well as for its interesting architectural heritage. Well located, the city allows to discover the most beautiful sites of Alsace, as well as Switzerland.
