Municipality of Pas-de-Calais, in the Hauts-de-France region, Blendecques takes place on the banks of the Aa, on the Helfaut plateau. It is located not far from Wizernes, Saint-Omer and Arques.
Occupied since prehistoric times, the territory of Blendecques developed in the Middle Ages thanks to its large number of windmills and water mills built on the Aa. The presence of a Cistercian abbey also allowed him to know an important fame at this time. Established as a county in the second half of the 17th century, this town in northern France subsequently experienced a new boom in the 19th and 20th centuries with the industrial revolution and the establishment of paper and cardboard mills.
From this glorious past, the city of Blendecques has preserved an important heritage to be discovered during a stay in the region.
