Tourouvre-au-Perche was created from the fusion of a dozen villages, Autheuil, Bivilliers, Bresolettes, Bubertré, Champs, Lignerolles, La Poterie-au-Perche, Prepotin, Randonnai and Tourouvre. It is only a dozen kilometers from Mortagne-au-Perche.
If it is recent, the commune of Tourouvre-au-Perche nevertheless has an interesting architectural and natural heritage that is found in the various villages that make it up. Calm and pleasant, it is ideal to spend a few days of holidays and discover the charms of this part of Normandy.
The woods and forests are rich in this part of the Orne, allowing the practice of hiking or the simple family walk to enjoy the local fauna and flora.
Classified as Historic Monuments, the church of Notre-Dame d'Autheuil dates from the 12th century. Inside, one can admire monumental paintings on the choir and the cul-du-four, as well as a sculpture of the XVIth Annunciation and a 15th century bishop statue. This set is also classified as an object.
The church of Saint-Aubin de Tourouvre is listed in the Historic Monuments. In Romanesque style, it includes two very beautiful 16th century stained-glass windows, Disciples of Emmaus and La Légende de Saint Hubert, as well as nine other stained-glass windows inscribed on the General Inventory of Cultural Heritage. The high altar and a credenza are also classified as Historic Monuments. The town also has an 18th-century presbytery, which once served as a pavilion to the old castle destroyed in the 19th century, and one can appreciate the manor of Bellegarde listed in the Historical Monuments and partly built in the 15th century.
The church of Bresolettes, dedicated to Saint Peter, also deserves the detour. Built in the 16th century, it contains a stained glass window of Saint Catherine of Alexandria classified as Historic Monuments as an object.
The church of Saint-Michel de Bubertré dates from the 17th century. It has an altarpiece of the same period with a statue of Saint Michael and a Madonna and Child of the 16th century classified as Historic Monuments.
Passing through Champs, you can discover the Saint-Evroult church of the 11th and 16th centuries, as well as a very beautiful wash-house made of wood and country tiles.
Randonnai has a very interesting architectural heritage, including the Saint-Malo church built in the 16th century. It has several works of art classified as Historical Monuments as objects, such as a classical altarpiece with paintings by Saint Andrew or Saint Sebastian. One can still admire the ruins of the old communal church dedicated to Saint Mary Magdalene or appreciate the outside of the manor of Belle Perche.
Prépotin also has a beautiful church, that of Saint-Jacques, as well as numerous ponds which it is possible to go around and where you can picnic in peace.
Tourouvre-au-Perche is rich in an important natural heritage. It is possible to take a walk in the forest of Perche, and more particularly in the nature reserve of the forest clearing of Bresolettes. A hiking trail, the GR 22, crosses and allows to appreciate the local fauna and flora. La Trappe forest is also a popular place for family walks or picnics, as well as the Bois du Châtelet.
Les Muséales, a museum dedicated to French emigration to Canada, traces the history of the town that sent many of its inhabitants to the other side of the Atlantic.
The weekly market is held every Friday morning.
In April, place in Canada in Celebration with a craft market, animations for the children, culinary tastings or even concerts.
The last weekend of June is organized the Rando of the Ponds of the Perche, a walk and a race in VTT allowing to discover the flora of the surroundings.
On July 14, the municipality proposes a funfair and a garage sale.
From the end of July to the end of August, on weekends and August 15th, Autheuil presents its summer salon of the Perche painters.
The festival of Saint-Gilles takes place at the end of August with all its activities.
