Labeled Musée de France, the ethnology museum of Nord-Pas-de-Calais takes place in the Saint-Pry chapel, in Béthune, a desecrated place of worship in red brick typical of the region.
Created in 1991, it is the only one to deal with the theme of social evolutions in the region and behavioral changes from an ethnological point of view. On the museum's program, 30,000 objects of popular arts and traditions from Nord-Pas-de-Calais making up three collections: an ethnological collection from the 18th century to today, an archaeological collection from the Greco-Roman, Merovingian and medieval periods and a artistic fund with 6000 glass plates and works by regional artists.
Visitors can also admire a collection of old games or candy molds as well as numerous temporary thematic exhibitions organized throughout the year.
