At the peak of their use, the Besançon arenas could accommodate between 18,000 and 20,000 spectators and were 124 m long and 105 m wide. Of this building from the 1st century, only a few things remain today.
The remains of this Roman amphitheater are rare, but it is still possible to admire a portion of the wall of one of the facades between rue Marulaz and avenue Charles-Siffert. One of the buildings of the Lycée Condé also presents the curve of the old building.
