Based in a former 16th-century abbey house, the municipal museum of Bernay houses some fine art collections ranging from Antiquity to the 20th century: archaeology; egyptology; French, Italian, Flemish and Dutch paintings; ceramics from Rouen, Nevers and Moustiers; furniture and decorative art and more will provide plenty to delight lovers of culture.
Near to the museum, the 11th-century Abbey Church of Our Lady, a superb example of the Romanesque style, contains some beautiful sculpted capitals. Also take a look at the old half-timbered houses in the town, whose picturesque forms line the streets of Rue Thiers and Rue Gaston Folloppe!
