Bénesse-Maremne is a town of the Landes, in Aquitaine region Nova, west of Capbreton which it borders.
Its territory of 18 square kilometers belongs to the natural and historical region of Maremne that matches the old delta of the Adour (river now throws longer in the ocean but in Capbreton Bayonne). Crossed by the former RN 10 and the A63 motorway that goes to Spain, the locality is bordered to the south by the natural protected area of the Marais Orx.
Appeared in the Middle Ages, the parish falls under the old regime of Viscount of Maremne and grows thanks to its strategic position on the axis connecting Bordeaux to Bayonne, a royal road taking the route of a Roman road. Surrounded by marshes, the town can while concentrate production rye.
