Today definitely closed to visitors, the castle of Benais takes place in the heart of Indre-et-Loire. Listed as a Historic Monument, the building was erected in the 16th century on an old fortified gate flanked by two towers. The latter was originally crowned with battlements and other battlements.
An avant-corps was added in the 16th century on the left wing, as was a small octagonal tower, still visible today. Not far from the old castle, it is still possible to see the remains of two large towers between which stands the current castle of Benais.
