Belflou is located 47 km from Toulouse and 55 km from Carcassonne, the lake of Ganguise, created around 1980. This withholding rich currently 400 hectares of water used to feed the one hand the Canal du Midi and the other helps farmers to irrigate cereals. The town where life is good has about 100 inhabitants (Belflouenes and Belflouens).
This fortified site was formerly named Valflor then Viloflour (valley of flowers).

Belflou has a beautiful castle nestled in an exceptional green setting. Built between the 13th and 14th century, various families succeeded each other. To date, the owner keeps it in good condition. The stair tower is adorned with busts and gargoyles, the surrounding moat is still water, you can still see the location of the drawbridge now disappeared.
The boating is popular windsurfer and other sports. Fishermen will find their place, as well as lovers of flora and fauna.
Various hiking, horseback riding or mountain biking can be arranged in the rolling hills around the lake.
The local festival village Belflou takes place in late July-early August, food and atmosphere are outstanding on the village square, with background of green surrounded by the castle moat.
