Originally this church was called St. John and dating from the thirteenth century. Like the tower now serves as a gateway. This tower, and the walls and the castle were intended to defend the village. The early church was made up of the choir, the two chapels on the right, the chapel on the far left and the first bay of the nave. So it was not until 1595 that the Bishop of Agen Nicolas Villars transfers the parish service at St Paul St John. At its dedication, it was renamed St Jacques. The early church and the tower were connected by an extension of the nave, creating the second span and the two left chapels were built. The tower lost its name to become a bell tower. It was unfortunately auctioned in 1630 because it was too shabby. It is a citizen bought the church and began restoration work.
