Main building of the abbey dating from the 11th century and remodeled in the 16th century. The church was built according to the wishes of Foulques Nerra, Count of Anjou as a symbol of his devotion.
The north wall, the transepts and the ruined ambulatory are from the middle of the 11th century. The current apse dates back to the 15th century, built on the ruins of the Romanesque ambulatory. The vaults of the nave and the crossing are also from the 15th century, and the first west bay as well as the facade were rebuilt at the beginning of the 20th century.
The Grand Bell Tower was built in the 12th century, entirely in stone, including its singular octagonal spire which dominates Beaulieu-lès-Loches from its height of 64 meters.
The cracked masonry and the wear and tear of time made the work dangerous. After eight years of studies and three years of construction, the Grand Bell Tower has regained all its splendor: the spire has been rebuilt in new stone, the square tower at the base restored to the rules of the art.
The church houses the tomb of Foulques Nerra. It became after the revolution the new and only parish church of Beaulieu.
It should be noted that the church has a wealth of classified furniture, including the pulpit, the carved wooden stalls, the painted wooden panels of the sacristy...
Listed as a Historic Monument in 1862.
