Of a modest area of 2 km², the territory of the locality is nonetheless formed of a town center and several hamlets, and it has especially the specificity to be bordered on the west by the Gave Pau and its side channels of Lagoin and Grau.

This neighborhood proved dramatic in 1772, when a violent flood of the Gave devastated and destroyed the village, hitherto simple stronghold dependent on the bailiwick of Pau.
