Located at Bar-le-Duc, in the Meuse, the Château de Marbeaumont was built at the very beginning of the 20th century for the Varin-Bernier banking family. Listed as an historic monument, it reveals on its exterior facades an important mixture of architectural styles, from the Renaissance to the Art Nouveau, which testifies to the eclecticism in the constructions of the time.
Having become the property of the municipality at the end of the 1940s, since the 1990s the Château de Marbeaumont has hosted the new Bar-le-Duc media library. In its interior, it is organized around a central space lit by an impressive glass roof, with a large number of rooms decorated in very different styles such as the entrance hall whose mosaic is inspired by the Antiquity or the large Renaissance dining room with its colorful coffered ceiling and carved wood fireplace. A Louis XVI style lounge, a Louis XIV style lounge, a Directoire style billiard room or an Empire desk-library complete this unique set.
Outside, the building is surrounded by a charming English garden composed of rare species such as sequoia or ginkgo, as well as a pond with a rock garden waterfall.
