Bannegon, municipality of the district of Saint-Amand-Montrond and Canton of Charenton-du-Cher, is bisected by the Canal de Berry and two rivers that are Auron and Sagonin.
The channel Berry has the distinction of having three separate branches that converge on the town with the Lock Fontblisse. These three branches are: the southern branch (Fontblisse - Montluçon), the branch Northeast (Fontblisse - Marseilles-lès-Aubigny) and the Northwest Branch (Fontblisse - Walnut-sur-Cher).

It is a common rich in terms of architecture and tourism with its castle dating from the 12th century.
The village flourished won 1st prize at the Concours departmental flowered village, and also earned the label of "Villages in bloom" in the regional competition.
