Banassac is a small village in Lozère, who joined on 1 January 2016. The new Common Banassac-Canilhac fusion. It is located in the district of Mende, adjoining La Canourgue, and takes place at the confluence of the Urugne and Lot.
Ancient village Gallo-Roman, Banassac was once an important center of sigillés ceramics and a coinage center in the Merovingian period. Many remains recently discovered evidence of these productions.
Full of charm and tranquility of the village Banassac kept a large number of monuments testifying to the rich history of the site, and has put forward the importance of its environmental heritage by building several marked hiking trails.
