Common Pays de la Loire, Avrillé is an important tourist place of the Maine-et-Loire department. Located in the outskirts of Angers, the city awarded four flowers in the competition of cities and flowered villages of France, is also part of the Metropolitan Angers Loire Métropole.

The many parks and other parks that dot the center and its surroundings are a real breath of fresh air in the heart of Avrillé. One that takes its name from an ancient Roman owner, Aprillis, only became a city in its own right in 1791, after the French Revolution.

Things to see and do

Built in the twelfth century, the convent of the Cathars Haie is a listed priory registered and partly historical monument. Inside the church, the walls were decorated with frescoes in the fourteenth century and you can see Jacob's history painted on the north wall of the nave. Appendix, a leper colony existed until the mid-fifteenth century, in parallel priory business. Summer Camp in the twentieth century, the buildings were bought by the St. Dominic Brotherhood in the 1980s.

The castles are numerous on the town of Avrillé, and are the hallmark of the city. One can also observe the presence of La Boissiere, private property of the mid-nineteenth century, The Guard training center in the same time, Plesse The seventeenth century serving nursing home today, and La Ferriere. This building, built in the seventeenth century, reveals French gardens and a 18 hole golf course, banquet halls or a restaurant.

Built in the mid-nineteenth century, the chapel of the martyrs aims to celebrate the memory of 2,000 people shot in 1794.

Nearby, the Saint-Gilles church replaced the original building in 1983.

One can still admire two cavier mills, that of the Cross Gift 1730, and the Guard of the seventeenth century.

Parks and other green spaces abound in Avrillé. The Saint-Nicolas pond, Brassens park, the park Lung Greens, the City Hall park or the woods Sitting delight the lovers of walks outdoors or family picnics.

Events and festivities

Three markets take place in the town of Avrillé, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday morning. A Christmas market is also provided at the end of the year. The first Sunday of October, a flea market is held.

In April, O'Grand air provides entertainment in the heart of Brassens park. sporting challenges, creative activities and flower market are thus the program.

In June, the feast of the game is rich in entertainment.

Avrillé in Transat is held every year in July. For four days, the city offers deck chairs, beach games or outdoor activities.

In October, the trail of Aprilis walk has two routes of thirteen and twenty-five kilometers.
